Thai massage, nuat paen boran in Thai (which translates to "ancient" or "traditional" massage), originates from the Indian subcontinent and is based on ancient Ayurveda and Yoga techniques. Providing a holistic physical experience, a traditional Thai massage session is both relaxing and healthy. While this may sound painful, traditional Thai massage - provided by a trained and certified practitioner - should not actually hurt, but be both relaxing and healthy for the recipient's entire body and soul. If you find your massager's style too "aggressive" just let him/her know; they should readily swift to a "softer" style. Otherwise try an oil massage, which provides a softer form of relaxation.
(Note: Depending on the policy of the massage parlour and the readiness of your massage girl to provide "extra" sexual services, some oil massage sessions may well turn into a so-called "dirty massage" culminating in a hand-job or blow-job. Such extra services are not a standard element of traditional massage, however, and are not included in the regular price.)
Foot Massage, Foot Reflexology
Foot massage, as the name says, is performed on the feet of the recipient. Also known as "foot reflexology massage," it is based on the ancient Chinese belief that hundreds of "reflex zones" in our feet correspond to certain organs of our body, and that by professional manipulation of these zones, healing of certain symptoms and syndromes in the respective organs can occur.
As shown by studies, foot massage also yields release of stress. As many diseases, especially heart diseases, are caused by excessive stress, a professional foot massage can also have an indirect positive impact on the patient's physical well-being.
All traditional massage parlours in Pattaya offer foot massage, too. A standard one-hour session usually costs the same as a Thai massage (200 Baht).
Body Massage, Soapy Massage
While most massage parlours in Pattaya provide traditional Thai-style massages (perhaps with a few non-standard "extras") a full body massage - probably better known by customers as "soapy massage" - is really more than just a body massage for the sake of therapeutical benefits.
A "soapy" is probably better described as a body-to-body massage. This means, all parts of the body of your sexy masseuse, not just her hands or elbows, have a share in providing satisfaction and relief to all (including intimate) parts of your body. The idea of a "soapy" is that you get a full massage of your body, lubricated with lots of soapy water and culminating in a round of physical exercises on the mattress; in other words: sex.
Upon entering a typical body massage parlour, you should find yourself in a dimly-lit room facing a panoramic glass front ("fish bowl") behind which the massage providers - often dressed in posh evening gowns - are seated. Usually the massage girls have numbered badges on their dresses, and a kind of manager (papasan) is always around to assist you with choosing the 'right number'. Basically all you have to do, is name the number of the lady you fancy, and she'll jump out of her "fish bowl" and join you. In some soapy massage parlours, you may have a drink and chat with a girl before making your final choice; in other (more Asian-oriented) venues, you can't.
After making your choice, your massage girl will take you to a private air-conditioned room (some are equipped with private bathrooms and relatively luxurious; others aren't). Following the usual shower, you can lean back on the mattress, relax all parts of your body and enjoy a soapy body- to-body massage resulting in full sensual relief. Usually a complete body massage session lasts around 90 minutes.
Prices for this special kind of massage service usually start at roughly 1,500 up to around 3,500 Baht for "models" (in general, younger girls are more expensive than older ladies). Normally, these prices include sexual services; however, if the price should cover only the basic massage, you'll have to agree on a price for extra services in advance. All the large massage parlours have mamasans or papasans, so there are always people on hand to assist customers. They'll also be able to tell you which girls will be most able to ensure a "happy visit" and how much to "tip."
"Dirty Massage": Oil Massage with "Happy Ending" ...
While the majority of massage parlours around Pattaya restrict their official services to traditional Thai massage, quite a few "regular" massage shops (i.e. not soapy massage parlours) may offer a standard Thai oil massage, yet accompanied or followed by a few less traditional non-standard extras like a balls-massage, a hand-job or blow-job, possibly even more?
If that's the kind of massage you want, you are advised to go for an oil massage. Usually, when a massage lady chats you up on the street "bar girl-style" and discretly offers you an oil massage, this could be a first suggestion that she may extend her services to a little hand relief. If then she asks you to take off your shorts, and her massaging hands frequently touch your balls and your possibly erected little friend during the massage session, you can be 99% sure that a hand-job is on its way.
Quite a few of these so-called "dirty massage" parlours can be found on Soi Honey Inn, a narrow side-street between Pattaya 2nd Road and Soi Buakhao, with a number of mid-range and budget hotels, a few bars and restaurants, and an extraordinarily large number of massage parlours and "massage bars". Most (if not all?) girls on Soi Honey should be ready to extend their services to a hand-job (chuck-wow in Thai) or a special "oral massage," while more adventurous girls may be in for even more?
Otherwise, "dirty" massages are basically available all over town - e.g. on Soi Buakhao and its side-streets, Soi Post Office etc. - and often it's just a question of money (and courage to ask for special services!) to get a little hand relief from practically most massage girls in Pattaya.
