New venue in Division One: The Lion Bar, Pattaya Third Road
We have a new venue to replace one of the two byes in Division One. They actually replace Free Drop in the list, but they’ll start from scratch in the second round. The name of the venue is "The Lion Bar" and it’s located on Pattaya Third Road, a few units from the corner of Soi Xcyte.
PATTAYA 8-BALL POOL LEAGUE
The Pattaya 8-ball league, a friendly amateur pool league for venues all over Pattaya, Naklua and Jomtien kicked off in the year 2000 and has now (May 3, 2010) entered its 23rd season - making it the longest-running pool league among half a dozen of others in Pattaya.
The League is subdivided into two divisions with currently 23 teams. League matches take place weekly on Monday; the official match start time is 8.30pm.
As previously, the match format is 15 straight singles games, played in three sets of five games. Participating teams must have a minimum of five and may have a maximum of 15 players. While only two Thai players are allowed two play in each set, three players in each set must be expats or visiting foreigners.
The basic requirement for joining the League is an "acceptable" venue with a standard 7, 8 or 9-ft pool or snooker table with a reasonable, well-maintained surface, and an adequate playing space around the table.
League matches will be played according to the (old) English Pool Association (EPA) rules - with minor amendments for local preferences.
Venues from all over Pattaya are invited to join the league in future seasons or to replace a team that withdraws from the league in mid-season.
