The Jomtien 8-ball Pool League - a "friendly" amateur pool league for venues all around Jomtien - kicked off in May 2003 and has now entered its 13th season. League matches take place weekly on Thursday; official match start time is 8.30pm.
This season, the match format is 15 straight singles games (played in three sets of five games). Participating teams must have a minimum of five and may have a maximum of 15 players.
The basic requirement for joining the League is an "acceptable" venue with a standard 7, 8 or 9-ft pool or snooker table with a reasonable, well-maintained surface and an adequate playing space around the table.
League matches will be played according to the (old) English Pool Association (EPA) rules - with minor amendments for local preferences.
Venues from all over Jomtien are invited to join the League in future seasons or to replace a team that withdraws from the League in mid-season. For more info and details please contact us.

Playing venues
A number of teams decided to withdraw from the League to set up their own "invitation league"; good luck to them. Meanwhile, four new venues applied to join the League. The new venues are: Cupido Bar, Bristol Bar, Joy’s Paradise and Hongsa Kitchen. Two venues which have previously played in the League applied to re-join: Nok Bar and Blarney Stone.
That leaves 15 venues to play next season.
Only One Division
It was agreed that the 15 venues will compete in only one division (instead of two as previously). The 2009-10 season will commence on August 13.
There will be no Knockout scheduled, but later in the season the League will decide on whether one should be slotted in.
Organization
In lieu of a Committee, all bar owners (or team captains) will have a monthly meeting to discuss any problems. Each meeting will set the venue for the following meeting.
As previously, results will be reported by text message, email or phone (by the winning team!!).
No Supper
The requirement to provide supper has been removed from the rules. Whether supper is provided or not will be at the discretion of the home venue.
15 Singles Games
The match format will change to three sets of five games, i.e. 5+5+5. As previously, a player can play only once in each set, and opposing players can play each other only once per match. This means that a team must have a minimum of five players and may have up to 15 players.
Two (Male) Thai Players Per Set
A requirement that a pool team must have at least three foreigners (expats or tourists) playing in each set of five games - i.e. a maximum of two (male) Thai players plaing in a set - was added to the Procedural Rules.
At the discretion of both team captains, rules may be amended for individual matches.
