Golf In Pattaya: Golf Courses, Driving Ranges, Golf Societies

Pattaya Golf Societies  Driving Ranges  Pattaya Golf Courses A-Z  Golf Tours, Holidays, Links

Golf has probably become the most popular waste of time for a large number of expats, foreign tourists and Thais alike, and has emerged as a typical specialty of the Eastern seaboard.
Pattaya, Chonburi and Rayong, as well as other nearby provinces along the east coast, feature more than 20 of Thailand's finest golf courses in tropically evergreen landscapes, most of which can be found within a 60-minutes driving distance from Pattaya's city centre. Many of Pattaya's golf courses have been designed by some of the world's most famous names in golf course design, e.g. Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Nick Faldo, or other world-class golf course architects.
Wheareas in many Western countries golf is still deemed an elitist sport for exclusively the rich, and club membership fees are too costly to make it affordable for the average working man, golf in Pattaya is not just affordable for any Western visitor, it's cheap. Green fees from less than 500 Baht - and usually not exceeding 3,000 Baht - also explain the ever-increasing popularity golf enjoys in Thailand's growing middle and upper class.
Due to the constantly warm tropical climate with a never-ending golf season all through the year, and an influx of thousands of golf-crazy expats, golf has become the most popular leisure activity here at the Eastern seaboard. A quick glance at the sports pages in Pattaya's English-language papers, will quickly give you an impression of how BIG golf actually is in Pattaya's multi-national expat community.
If you don't have your own vehicle, there are many specialized tour agencies that offer regular golf tours, as well as a handful of bars and pubs that double as golf club houses and organize regular tours for their patrons. And for less experienced players, or tourists who just feel like fine-tuning their swing, there are also several driving ranges right within Pattaya's city limits.

Pattaya Golf Societies

For more infos on Pattaya's golf scene, golf courses around Pattaya and golf events, and in order to benefit from reduced member's guest rates for green fees, we'd recommend you to have a look around the websites of Pattaya's friendly golf societies:
International Pattaya Golf Club (IPGC) www.ipgc.org
The International Pattaya Golf Club - formed in 2000 - organizes and coordinates competition golf in and around Pattaya. It's a non-profit organisation and "member club" offering membership to all players, regardless of handicap, race or gender. IPGC offers weekly scheduled competitions and "major" tournaments. Competitions are held six days a week. IPGC negotiates with local clubs, on behalf of its member societies, to achieve the best discount rates for competition green fees and offers advice when necessary. The following golf societies currently comprise the IPGC.
Pattaya Golf Society (PGS)
Pattaya's first formalised golf group plays competition golf three times a week - on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays - from its new clubhouse Rabbi's Elephant Bar on Soi Buakhao.
The Alternative Gentlemen's Golf Society (TAGGS) can be contacted at The Haven Hotel on Soi 13, off Pattaya Beach Road. They play Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The Lewiinski's Golf Society can be contacted at Lewiinski's Bar and Hotel on Pattayaland Soi 1. They play Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The Jomtien Golf Society can be contacted at Siam Cats Bar on Jomtien Soi 5. They play every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
