Muay Thai Boxing

Muay Thai show matches - arranged primarily for the amusement of the tourist spectators, and to provide an extra income for the Thai performers - are organized in a number of bar complexes on Pattaya Beach Road (e.g. Siren Bar Complex) and Walking Street, which have boxing rings in the centre.
Courageous bar hoppers who think they are big and beefy enough to defeat the seemingly wishy- washy yet well-trained and muscular Thai fighters, are welcome and encouraged to participate in such show fights. Always Fun to watch - as most of these big white supermen clearly miss their chance to impress the screaming bar girls crowd. What many of these - typically tattooed and intoxicated - Western wannabe-Rambos don't realize in the beginning is that Muay Thai is less about big muscles than technique and physical fitness. Well, it's all just for the fun of it ...

"Friday Fight Night" @ The Avenue Mall: Every Friday, 7pm
On May 1st, 2009, The Avenue shopping mall on Pattaya 2nd Road kicked off a series of exiting (and profesional) Muay Thai fight nights, called 'Friday Fight Night', and was for the first time ever transformed into a real boxing arena. Since then, visitors can enjoy free Muay Thai Boxing every Friday at 19h in The Avenue shopping Mall on Pattaya Second Road, opposite Soi Yamato. The fights kick of at 7pm and go on until 11pm. The quality of the fights is guaranteed by Sitpholek - an institution in Pattaya's Muay Thai scene.
To watch more professional Muay Thai boxing, also visit the Fairtex Boxing Stadium (Thepprasit Road Soi 2, South Pattaya) which hosts Muay Thai fight nights two or three times per week. Fights start at 8pm and finish around midnight. Tickets 1,000-1,200 Baht.

Members, although not all active, are now in excess of 20,000, and what started as an occasional golf outing of a few dozen expats and Thais, is now daily golf competitions, weekly darts, lawn bowls, bowling and softball events, and regularly scheduled fishing tournaments. PSC also offers discounts at golf courses and many other places in Pattaya, and supports local charities. More info on their website www.pattayasports.org

Scuba Diving

Judging merely from the rather poor water quality at Pattaya's main beaches, you can easily get a misleading impression of the hidden marine beauty that the Gulf of Siam has on offer for divers. Indeed, only a few miles offshore the tourism-spoilt coastline of Pattaya, the Eastern seaboard's coastal waters turn out to be a real "mekka" for scuba diving enthusiasts.
Pattaya's shallow waters are home to a variety of maritime life forms - including colourful tropical fish such as large rays and barracudas, sea turtles, spectacular coral reef, and sharks of the gigantic yet harmless whale shark species - and provide numerous scenic diving sites in close proximity to Pattaya bay. Read more
For an extensive listing of Scuba Dive operators and training schools, all certified by international organizations including PADI and NAUI,  please visit our extra Scuba Diving page. All listed dive schools provide a variety of courses for beginners and ambitious diving enthusiasts. Training programs range from basic instruction courses, various advanced certification courses, to programs that earn you Master Scuba Diver and Instructor qualifications. Scuba Diving In Pattaya

Snooker

Snooker on full-sized 12-ft tables can be played in dozens of snooker halls around Pattaya which are predominantly frequented by Thais. Some are air-conditioned, others aren't, and the quality of the tables varies as much as the prices.
Recommended are the snooker halls at Bowling Plus - formerly called Pattaya Bowl - on Pattaya Second Road, and the small snooker hall on the first floor of Mike's Department Store on Pattaya Beach Road.
If you fancy a money game with the local Thai "champion," please remember that, in the first place, gambling is illegal in Thailand. Moreover, in case you should win, do not expect the Thai underdog to be ready to pay for his "loss of face". Thais are passionate snooker players but notoriously bad losers - and mostly short of money. In the worst case, you might end up in a serious argument or fight.

Thai Massage

Traditional Thai Massage isn't only healthy but a perfect way of relaxing, too. It's as well a form of therapeutical health care as a form of passive meditation and physical recreation. Traditional massage parlours and spas which offer Thai, Foot and Oil massage as well as Aroma Therapy or Herbal Massage, can be found all over Pattaya and in virtually every Soi. Prices per hour approximate 200 Baht for Thai massage, and 300 Baht for oil massage. In order to fully benefit from a traditional massage, a two-hours session is recommended. Traditional Thai Massage
Important note: Traditional Thai Massage is a therapeutic practice and not to be confused with a soapy Body Massage, which can be more precisely described as an erotic "body-to-body exercise" using a lot of soapy water. Other than traditional Thai massage, a full body massage session provides, so-to-say, "holistic" relaxation in a rather sexual way and usually includes a "happy ending" for the recipient. Body Massage/Body Massage Parlours
