The most popular jogging paths are along the beach promenades of Pattaya and Jomtien. Pattaya Fitness Park up the hill on Pratamnak Road features a jogging track in pleasantly landscaped surroundings. Jogging enthusiastics ambitious enough to compete in long-distance running might consider taking part in the popular Pattaya Marathon, organized every year in July (in 2008 scheduled for the 13th, 16th and 20th of July).

Muay Thai Boxing
Thai Boxing show matches arranged for the amusement of the tourist spectators and in order to provide an additional income for the performers
can be seen at several beer bar complexes along Pattaya Beach Road or Walking Street. Farangs who consider themselves big and strong enough to defeat the rather mediocre sized but well trained Thai fighters are frequently encouraged to participate in a fight. To the amusement exceedingly of the Thai spectators, however, most of these big white guys never have a serious chance and quite often just make fools out of themselves as Muay Thai is less about big muscles than technique and physical fitness. If you want to learn more about these techniques or study the martial art of Muay Thai Boxing more seriously, then you should visit one of the listed Thai Boxing schools or, for a start, watch some professional Muay Thai fights at the Fairtex Boxing Stadium (Thepprasit Road, Sukhumvit end)!

Pool Billiards
Both free-to-use and coin-operated pool tables of various styles and size (American Pool, English snooker style, 6x3, 7x3.5, 8x4 ft) can be found in hundreds of beer bars all over Pattaya and Jomtien with a few organizing regular competitions. There are even several 8-ball and 9-ball pool leagues organized by local bars and expats. Unless free or rented per hour, most places charge 20 Baht per game.

Scuba Diving
Judging merely from the rather poor water quality at the main beaches of Pattaya and Jomtien, you could easily get a misleading impression of the hidden marine beauty that the Gulf of Siam has on offer for divers. Indeed, only a few kilometres offshore the tourism-spoilt coastline, the Eastern seaboard's coastal waters turn out to be a real "mekka" for scuba diving enthusiasts.
The shallow waters of the Gulf of Siam are home to an abundance of maritime life forms including colourful tropical fish such as large rays or barracudas, sea turtles, spectacular coral reefs and even sharks of the gigantic yet harmless whale shark species. There are innumerable scenic diving sites in close proximity to Pattaya bay.
The most popular diving sites include the nearby islands of Koh Larn, Koh Sak and Koh Khrok (commonly referred to as the "Near Islands") as well as other archipelagos of small tropical islands around Koh Phai (the so-called "Far Islands"). Further down south towards Sattahip, the Koh Samae San chain of islands provides some of the best diving sites in the region both for recreational and educational diving.
Additional underwater attractions and a real incentive for more experienced divers are the numerous shipwrecks on the ground of the shallow waters that have become artificial homes to coral and other forms of maritime life. Visibility at all different dive sites ranges from 5 to 15 metres.

Snooker
Snooker can be played in numerous snooker halls around Pattaya that are predominantly frequented by Thais. Some are air-conditioned, others aren't, and the quality of the tables varies as much as the prices. Recommended are the snooker halls at Bowling Plus (formerly Pattaya Bowl) on Second Road and the small snooker club above Mike's Department Store on South Pattaya Beach Road.
If you fancy a money game with the local Thai "champ" please remember that gambling is illegal in Thailand. Furthermore, in case you win, do not expect the Thai underdog to be willing to pay for his "loss of face". In the worst case you might end up in a fight.

Thai Massage is not only healthy but a perfect way of relaxing, too. It is as well a form of therapeutical health care based on ancient medicine as a form of passive meditation and physical recreation.
Traditional Thai Massage parlours and spas that offer Thai, Foot Reflexology and Oil Massage as well as Aroma Therapy or Herbal Massage can be found all over Pattaya and Jomtien and in virtually every Soi.

Thai Boxing show matches arranged for the amusement of the tourist spectators and in order to provide an additional income for the performers
can be seen at several beer bar complexes along Pattaya Beach Road or Walking Street. Farangs who consider themselves big and strong enough to defeat the rather mediocre sized but well trained Thai fighters are frequently encouraged to participate in a fight. To the amusement exceedingly of the Thai spectators, however, most of these big white guys never have a serious chance and quite often just make fools out of themselves as Muay Thai is less about big muscles than technique and physical fitness. If you want to learn more about these techniques or study the martial art of Muay Thai Boxing more seriously, then you should visit one of the listed Thai Boxing schools or, for a start, watch some professional Muay Thai fights at the Fairtex Boxing Stadium (Thepprasit Road, Sukhumvit end)!

Scuba Diving
Judging merely from the rather poor water quality at the main beaches of Pattaya and Jomtien, you could easily get a misleading impression of the hidden marine beauty that the Gulf of Siam has on offer for divers. Indeed, only a few kilometres offshore the tourism-spoilt coastline, the Eastern seaboard's coastal waters turn out to be a real "mekka" for scuba diving enthusiasts.
The shallow waters of the Gulf of Siam are home to an abundance of maritime life forms including colourful tropical fish such as large rays or barracudas, sea turtles, spectacular coral reefs and even sharks of the gigantic yet harmless whale shark species. There are innumerable scenic diving sites in close proximity to Pattaya bay.
The most popular diving sites include the nearby islands of Koh Larn, Koh Sak and Koh Khrok (commonly referred to as the "Near Islands") as well as other archipelagos of small tropical islands around Koh Phai (the so-called "Far Islands"). Further down south towards Sattahip, the Koh Samae San chain of islands provides some of the best diving sites in the region both for recreational and educational diving.
Additional underwater attractions and a real incentive for more experienced divers are the numerous shipwrecks on the ground of the shallow waters that have become artificial homes to coral and other forms of maritime life. Visibility at all different dive sites ranges from 5 to 15 metres.

Snooker can be played in numerous snooker halls around Pattaya that are predominantly frequented by Thais. Some are air-conditioned, others aren't, and the quality of the tables varies as much as the prices. Recommended are the snooker halls at Bowling Plus (formerly Pattaya Bowl) on Second Road and the small snooker club above Mike's Department Store on South Pattaya Beach Road.
If you fancy a money game with the local Thai "champ" please remember that gambling is illegal in Thailand. Furthermore, in case you win, do not expect the Thai underdog to be willing to pay for his "loss of face". In the worst case you might end up in a fight.
